Clinical Symposium




HEAL U Clinical Symposium offers health care providers with clinical training related to weight control, nutrition, and physical activity.


Physicians: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) through the joint providership of The Hospitals of Providence and Paso Del Norte Institute for Healthy Living.  The Hospitals of Providence is accredited by TMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  The Hospitals of Providence designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing: The Hospitals of Providence is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This CNE activity has been jointly provided by the Hospitals of Providence collaboratively with Paso Del Norte Institute for Healthy Living.

Public Health Professionals (PENDING): The Paso del Norte Institute for Healthy Living is offering a continuing education event for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES), approved through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc (NCHEC).  This CHES activity provides a maximum of 5.75 Category I contact hours for the entire event. This activity provides up to 5.75 contact hours for the entire conference. Attendance will be verified through sign-in rosters and submit a CHES Individual Tracking Form at the beginning of the conference day.  Participant must attend a minimum of one conference presentation in its entirety and submit a completed evaluation for those presentations attended.

Registered Dietitians (PENDING): The Paso del Norte Institute for Healthy Living is offering a continuing education event for registered dietitians, approved through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This lecture series provides up to 5.0 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) at a CPE level 3. Certificates will be available at the end of the course, based on the extent of participation in the activity.
