WELCOME

Welcome to the web site for ARMADILLO, the Southwest Cognition Conference 2016.

ARMADILLO is an acronym for the Association for Research on Memory, Attention, Decision making, Intelligence, Language, Learning, and Organization (visual). The annual ARMADILLO conference was established in 1991 by a group of cognitive psychologists in Texas and has rotated among different universities in the region. Over the years, it has featured keynote speakers who are leaders in their fields and excellent research presentations from cognitive psychologists in Texas and neighboring states.

We are looking forward to hosting ARMADILLO at UTEP from September 30th to October 1st, 2016 in the Tomás Rivera Conference Center located in the Union Building East, 3rd Floor. We have put together an excellent program featuring a welcome by UTEP President Dr. Diana Natalicio, recently named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World, keynote addresses by prominent researchers Dr. Judith Kroll and Dr. David Balota, and presentations of excellent research conducted by faculty and students from Texas and neighboring states. We also expect to have excellent meals, including a conference dinner Friday night at Ardovino's Desert Crossing. Finally, for those who are interested, we have planned an optional excursion for Saturday afternoon/evening to Ciudad Juárez to see some of the sites and have dinner at the elegant Maria Chuchena restaurant.

We hope that you will join us and present your own research. We have spoken presentation slots for faculty and post-docs as well as poster presentation slots for students and faculty/post-docs who prefer that mode of presentation. Please send your presentation title along with a list of authors and affiliations directly to Dr. Wendy Francis at wfrancis@utep.edu by Saturday, August 20th. You will be informed of the status of your presentation by Tuesday, August 23rd.

Please navigate the links to your left for details about registration, accommodations, keynote addresses, a tentative schedule, and other useful information. A detailed schedule of presentations will be posted after the set of talks has been finalized.
