SUBJECT: 2008-2009 UTEP AWARE

I am pleased to announce the 2008-2009 UTEP AWARE Program. This nine-month intensive educational program offers faculty and staff participants a broad range of perspectives on the University, a knowledge foundation upon which they can base their future contributions to UTEP's special mission.

UTEP AWARE presents information about the University in a variety of formats. Participants have the opportunity to hear personally from UTEP faculty, staff, and students about the rapidly changing context which surrounds us and the critical issues we will face in the years ahead. Campus tours provide participants with a first-hand look at our academic, research, fine arts, and other special use facilities. Additionally, UTEP AWARE participants are encouraged to attend a variety of campus events and to reflect on the role that such events play in the University's mission. The 2008-2009 program sessions are scheduled to be conducted from noon until 4:45 p.m. one Friday each month, September 2008 through May 2009. A full schedule of sessions will be provided to participants. On rare occasions, the date of a particular session may be changed to accommodate the calendar of an invited speaker.

UTEP AWARE is open to all full-time faculty and staff. The program will be limited to approximately 25 participants. There is no charge for participation. Those interested in participating are asked to complete the attached application form. Applications must be received in the President's Office by Friday, June, 20, 2008. We hope that you will consider applying and encourage others to participate as well. Should you have any questions, please call Beto Lopez at 747-8244.
