Message from the Associate Vice President

UTEP’s success in achieving its important mission to help change the face of U.S. higher education is both an exciting opportunity for visibility and a major leadership responsibility.

-Diana Natalicio, President

Thank you for visiting the Web site for the UTEP Development Office. We are fortunate to have so many alumni and friends like you who support UTEP with their gifts. Your generosity not only enhances the quality of the UTEP educational experience, it also helps deserving students attain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and lead in the 21st century.

As UTEP prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2014 – 100 years of achievement and innovation – an increasing number of UTEP alumni, friends and parents are becoming actively involved in supporting the institution with their philanthropy. Today, private support from our alumni and friends is more important than ever, especially with the steady decline in state support for higher education. In 1980, the State of Texas provided UTEP with 80% of its operational budget. Today, less than 30% comes from the state. This change reflects increasing pressure on our campus to generate private support to close the funding gap; in a sense, private support provides the margin of excellence for the campus. Private support enables UTEP to continue to serve as a major force in shaping our region, state and nation in terms of teaching, research and public service.

In addition to the many online resources offered here, we also encourage you to contact any of our professional development officers listed in our Contact Us link, to assist you with questions and gift planning ideas. We are here to help!

The University Development staff once again expresses our sincere thanks for your interest in and support of The University of Texas at El Paso. Together, we will continue to celebrate the unique heritage of this extraordinary institution as we work together to advance its role as one of our state’s top higher education and research institutions.
