Why a Scholarship?
Scholarships make a difference
The cost of tuition and fees at UTEP is approximately $4,888 per year
Each year the University distributes a large number of scholarship awards made possible by gifts from individuals and businesses
The dollar amounts of these scholarship awards vary from $1,500 to $6,000 per year
To apply for a scholarship at UTEP, high school students must have a minimum grade point average of 93 GPA on a 100-point scale; college transfers or current UTEP students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale
All scholarships require full-time enrollment; some also require proof of financial need
How You Can Make a Difference?
Become a scholarship donor
Your gift in any amount, designated to the UTEP Scholarship Fund, will be pooled with other gifts and used to provide as many scholarships as possible each year
Establish a named annual scholarship
If you give $1,500 or more now, and pledge to give the same amount for 3 additional years, we will establish a scholarship in your name (or in honor of someone whom you would select)
By funding scholarships for 4 years, you will enable a talented student to concentrate on his/her course work, free from the worry about next year’s tuition
Annual Scholarship Funding Levels:
$6,000 ($1,500 per yer for 4 years)
$12,000
$16,000
$25,000
Become an endowed scholarship donor
With a gift of $25,000 or more, you can create a permanently endowed scholarship at UTEP
An endowed scholarship can be designated to a particular college or department and can be named in honor of the donor (The Jane and John Donor Endowed Scholarship) or for anyone the donor might wish to honor
Each endowed scholarship or fellowship is recognized with a solid brass plaque on the Wall of Honor in the respective college or the University Library
NOTE: Donors may take up to five (5) years to fully fund an endowed fund
