Winter Commencement 2009

The University of Texas at El Paso Spring Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the Don Haskins Center. This ceremony is a high point of students’ experience at UTEP and a celebration of their achievements. Your attendance will mean a great deal to them, their families, and the university. You will also have an opportunity to congratulate those students you know personally and to wish them well. I strongly encourage you to participate.
Academic regalia is required. Please direct your regalia questions to the University Bookstore at 747-5594.
INSTRUCTIONS:

Faculty will meet no later than thirty minutes before the ceremony in the Auxiliary Gym on Baltimore Street across from the Don Haskins Center.

Faculty Marshals will organize faculty by college and within the college, proper protocol calls for faculty to be arranged in order of rank – beginning with Professor Emeritus – and, within rank, by time in rank.

Faculty Marshals will guide the procession, and direct the faculty to their seats. |

At the end of the ceremony, faculty will form two ceremonial lines along the center aisle to congratulate the students as they exit, then exit through the tunnel.

The ceremonies are approximately one and a half hours in duration.

Parking Lot P-13 located on the southeast corner of Oregon and Glory Road is reserved for faculty and VIP guest parking. Your UTEP faculty parking decal displayed on your vehicle will facilitate parking in Lot P-13.
NOTE: Master’s degree candidates are typically hooded at their college’s pre-commencement ceremony. Please check with your college for further details or to participate in these ceremonies.
