The following information is to assist graduating students with the degree application process.  For deadline dates check the academic calendar .
 
Prior to your final semester you should keep in touch with the people and offices that will help you graduate. Make sure you are taking the courses needed to meet your degree requirements and that your academic record is accurate and up-to-date.

You must apply for graduation before the degree application submission deadline which in the Class Schedule calendar. If you submit your application after the deadline or before the last day of finals, you will be charged $15 in addition to the $30 graduation fee. Applications received after the last day of classes will be deferred to the next semester.

Step 1 - APPLY Undergraduates apply for graduation at their dean's office; check for dean's clearance dates. Graduate students apply with their academic advisors, and then proceed to the Graduate Student Services Office for approval; check for graduate school clearance dates.

Step 2 - Pay Pay the $30.00 graduation fee (accompanied with your degree application) at the Student Business Services Office, in the Academic Services Building. Candidates who did not fulfill their graduate requirements, must reapply and pay the following semester. For more information, read

NOTE: To have your name appear in the printed Commencement Program, an application must be submitted by the official submission deadline to the Registration and Records Office.
After final grades are submitted, the deans will begin the final audit of your records to ensure you have met the requirements for your degree. The Registration and Records Office will receive confirmation of graduates from the deans in approximately six weeks. Immediately thereafter,diplomas and transcripts (with degrees posted) will be issued. You will receive a postcard when the diploma is available. All diplomas will be held for pick-up at the Registration and Records Office, unless previews arrangements were made.

If you have any outstanding financial debts with the university, you will need to clear them before a diploma or transcript can be released. To check on your balance, please contact the Student Business Services Office at 747-5116 or -5105

To congratulate you on completing your degree, a complimentary official UTEP transcript showing the degree you were awarded will be available through the Records Office. If you want to order additional transcripts, you may do so by visiting this web site

Graduate Students Graduate degree candidates have additional deadlines for submission of theses, dissertations and research papers, and for certification of or master's degree final examinations to the Graduate Student Services Office. Refer to the calendar in the Class Schedule.
 
Graduate Degree Application Procedure Graduate degree candidates should submit the Graduate Advisor Approved form to the Graduate School two weeks prior to the published date for a complete review of the academic record. Forms received after that date are not guaranteed to be approved prior to the late fee deadline.
