Office of Scholarships


The Office of Scholarships is dedicated to awarding the maximum amount of scholarships available to the most deserving students while striving to be informative, responsive, resourceful, compliant, professional and sensitive to students, faculty and donor needs.

UTEP Scholarships

Incoming Students

Students graduating from high school who have never attended a College or University.

Current Students

Students who are currently enrolled at UTEP and had not previously applied are encouraged to submit an application.

Transfer Students

Applications for UTEP Scholarships require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment.

Graduate Students

The Graduate Scholarship Application has now Open for 2016-2017

International Students


Current High School Seniors - Apply for the UTEP Scholars Excellence Program and its four levels of scholarships.

State Scholarships


Highest ranking students from all accredited Texas High Schools will receive a certificate from the Texas Education Agency. Original certificate will need to be turned in to the Office of Scholarships to begin processing. Please note that this scholarship covers tuition only.

THECB Top 10%

This scholarship is no longer being offered to incoming freshman.Texas resident students who ranked in the top10 percent of their Texas accredited high school were eligible for this scholarship.  It is a financial need based scholarship and the student must enroll full time in a Texas public college or university and meet renewal requirements. For more information:

5th Year Accounting Scholarship

Texas resident students enrolled at participating public, private or non-profit colleges and universities enrolled at least half time and have completed at least 120 hours of their college course work. These students must be approved by the UTEP Accounting department Chair. For more details on eligibility requirements contact:

Good Neighbor Scholarship

International students of the Western hemisphere (other than Cuba) who intend to return to the eligible country upon completion of program of study and maintain satisfactory academic progress. For more information please contact:

Study Abroad Scholarships

Scholarships are available to students who wish to go abroad to take courses towards their degree.

Staff Scholarships

These scholarships, which pay UTEP tuition and fees for up to six hours for one consecutive year (fall and spring semesters only), are offered in appreciation for the significant contributions that staff members make to the University's mission. To qualify staff members must be eligible to receive the staff fee waiver. Please visit the Human Resources office to inquire about eligibility for the waiver.

External Scholarships

What is an external scholarship? External Scholarships are awards from non institutional sources. These scholarship opportunities are available through private companies and non-profit organizations. Each scholarship has its own application procedure, requirements and deadlines. The listings are updated periodically, so please be sure to check in on a regular basis to get the most updated information.
