| MINER SELECTED TO SECOND MISSION |
Welcome to our site honoring Danny Olivas, a 1989 UTEP graduate and NASA astronaut.
Olivas has been selected for a second mission, STS-128, tenatively set for July 2009.
His first mission aboard space shuttle Atlantis was in June 2007.
Olivas is a self-described "average kid from El Paso" who went on to earn a Ph.D. and a role as a mission specialist in the astronaut program.
He hopes his story will inspire others to work hard and strive for excellence in everything they do.
